ABOUT N'DAMBI

N'Dambi is an international singer, songwriter, musician, and daydreamer who has been creating music shaped with influences from country, gospel, funk, jazz, soul, and electronic music for more than 25 years. Using music as her canvas, she paints observations of people performing the daily rituals of living.  Her captivating voice and exceptional storytelling are the tools she uses to inspire others to be, do, and feel better.

Holding a degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the prestigious Southern Methodist University, N'Dambi blends her literary and musical talents to carve a unique space for her craft. It has also allowed her to ghostwrite several works, books, and poems that have become hits.  Her future aspirations are to release children's books under her own name, with several in pre-production today.

During the early stages of her career, this Dallas native toured extensively as a backing vocalist for the globally acclaimed Neo-Soul icon Erykah Badu. This experience refined her stage presence and fueled her growth as a writer, allowing her star to rise and break through the glass ceiling. This momentum drove her to release three critically acclaimed albums —Little Lost Girls' Blues, Tunin' Up and Cosignin', and Weird Kinda Wonderful — while she garnered acclaim from performances in Japan, Kenya, Uganda, France, and beyond. N'Dambi's collaborations include features with tastemaker artists such as hip-hop star Lecrae, pop icon Ariana Grande, jazz trumpeter Nicholas Payton, and Dallas jazz band Snarky Puppy.

Her successful career led to her signing with the legendary Stax label during its 2007 revival. This partnership produced the Grammy-nominated album Pink Elephant in 2011. Co-produced by N'Dambi and the legendary Leon Frank Sylvers III, the album features purposeful storytelling and a soulful voice that rekindles our connection to classic soul music, echoing the energies of iconic singers like Nina Simone, Tina Turner, Mahalia Jackson, and Chaka Khan.

By 2018, N'Dambi released the EP Air Castle, an Afro-Futurism collaboration with All Cows Eat Grass frontman, T. Brown. The project blends N’Dambi’s warm vocals with T. Brown’s retro-futuristic electro-soul production, creating a unique sonic journey through space and time.

Affectionately known for her deep empathy and nurturing spirit, N’Dambi often gives herself to others in a way that creates a safe and loving environment. Releasing independently through Bandcamp, N’Dambi is embracing a platform renowned for prioritizing artists' interests.
